We have changed our status...

on Reece's Rainbow that is. The adoptive families are placed in categories. New Committments, Adopting Families, Traveling Soon, and Already Home. We have now made our way from Adopting Families to TRAVELING SOON!!! We still don't have a travel date. We are hoping to hear later this week or early next week, but since we are submitted, we have moved catergories. I never thought we would get to this point. Pages and pages of paperwork, notary stamps, medical exams, police clearances, FBI fingerprints, POA's and apostilles later, we are ready to travel. I think we have everything we need to travel. Clothes, computer, books, clothes for Jacob and medications (just in case) and we are good to go. We have childcare lined up for the kids and really there are just a few household things that need to be done. Not anything huge, just the fence in our backyard that needs to be put up, the basement cleaned and laundry that is stacked to be put away, and our bathroom completely finished (luckily we just have a few pieces of trim to put up) and we will be ready.

I don't think it has finally hit me that we are rescuing an orphan from Eastern Europe. It hasn't sunk in that hopefully by this time next month we will be visiting our newest addition to our family. It really isn't real yet! Not sure when it will be "real", but I am assuming that we are sitting on the plane, ready to take off and leaving our sweet babies behind for a LONG time, it will become very real very fast.

If you could offer up a few prayers for our family as we wait for a travel date! Please pray that everyone involved finds the strength to get through the seperation from our kids. It is going to be difficult! Also please pray that the last of the money comes from somewhere. We are still about $2,500 short on our travel expenses, but we know that God will provide one way or another! Please pray for us!!! THANK YOU!!!

For me it really became real when our plane started descending into Kiev. I had hoped and dreamed of international adoption for so long and when it was actually taking place, it was unbelievable.

Been thinking of you today... you better post the SECOND you hear a date!!! Since we are being submitted two weeks after you, I'm hoping your date will give us a better idea. ;)

Praying peace for the waiting!

Congratulations. It is a great feeling to be waiting for travel dates. We were submitted this week, and hope to learn something soon. We will be leaving 2 boys behind and I only worry about that .. you are in our prayers.
