What Next

So we are 12 days from traveling to meet our son! I am not sure that we can fit much more on our plate before those 12 days are over! I woke this morning, like any other morning, at 5:30 am. I opened the basement door and flipped on the light and that's when I saw it. Water... water everywhere! There was about 2 1/2 inches of it in our basement. (Luckily it was clean water!!) We had so much rain here this weekend and our two sump pumps decided to malfunction during the night last night. Really? Both of them at the same time?? You have to be kidding me???

We got the water under control after some switching out of pumps. Thank goodness we had a couple spares in the basement. But our basement was finished so that presents yet another problem. Luckily it hadn't quite reached the corner of the basement with the computer so I was able to get all the cords up and out of the way. But there are other things that are ruined. Some ceiling tiles, bookshelves, boxes with God know what in them. Just stuff really, but stuff none the less. Not sure if the carpet is a total loss, however we will see when the insurance adjuster comes tomorrow. The one wall, we have to totally rip out of the Wainscoting and replace it because the wood is damaged. UGH!! Just something that I didn't want to have to deal with before we left.

There is a bright side. It could have happened after we left with my parents here trying to watch the kids and clean up the basement! So, if you could all say a quick little prayer that we can get this all resolved before we leave. I am thinking that the next week will be pretty sleepless. Which might be nice so by the time I get on the plane, I will be completely and utterly exhausted!! Might make for a quick flight if I sleep through the whole thing!
