A Date I Almost Forgot...

While we were in Ukraine, there was a special date that passed and I didn't want it to go unmentioned. 10 years ago on May 23rd, my life changed forever. I went to my cousins wedding. Sounds like something very trivial, but God was working in great ways that day. I was supposed to bring a date with me to the wedding. He cancelled on my about an hour before we were supposed to leave. I had decided that I wasn't going to go alone and I was just going to stay home.

After about 1/2 hour of going back and forth, I decided that I wasn't going to let some jerk ruin my day. So I packed myself in the car and drove the hour to the wedding. It was at the reception that my world changed. My aunt took me by the arm and we walked over to a man playing pool. She said, "Joe, this is Brigitte, Brigitte, this is Joe -- GO DANCE!" Well, if you know my aunt Carol at all, No is NOT an option, so we did. We spent the rest of the night talking. The following Tuesday we went on our first "date" and a month later we were engaged.

The following year in September, I married my Best Friend, the most wonderful husband and father that anyone could ask for. I am truely blessed to have him as my partner, my soulmate and the father of my children. We have walked some difficult paths during our marriage, but we walked them TOGETHER and have come out of them stronger and closer than ever. I wouldn't want anyone else to share my life with me. I look forward to 50 more years with my Best Friend!!!!
