It’s Sunday–Father’s Day

It’s Sunday ….. It’s Father’s Day and I am 1/2 way around the world in Bulgaria enjoying the beautiful weather and a Coke Light.  I wish I could be with my husband today as he celebrates with his four wonderful, much loved children!

I can’t even tell you how much I love that man.  He took 2 weeks of his vacation from work to stay at home with our 4 so that I could come to Bulgaria to meet our new newest additions.  Not all Dad’s would do that, but for Joe it wasn’t even a question.  He has some great things planned for him and the kids so they will have a grand time while I am here!

When we met 13 years ago in May, I would have never dreamed that our life would turn out the way it has.  We talked before we got married about how many kids we wanted.  I wanted 5, he wanted 3… I was ok with three.  After all we had both come from homes where there were three children.  He is the oldest and I am the youngest.  Three would be great.  I could handle three.  Then after a couple of miscarriages and infertility, we thought for several years that wouldn’t have any.  We were sad… then I was pregnant with Josie!  I figured since I had trouble getting pregnant on my own that we’d have time to plan the second…well Katie and God had different plans… 5 months after Josie was born I surprisingly found out I was pregnant with Katie.  She was born when Josie was just 13 months old.  Then on Josie’s 2nd birthday (Katie was 11 months old) we found out Owen would be joining us!  PERFECT… three children.  WELL GOD STILL HAD OTHER PLANS!  When Owen was 6 months old…BAM I was pregnant again.  Unfortunately that child went to be with God when I was just 12 weeks along!  We were so sad.  We grieved for that child… the child we though would complete our family.

God works in mysterious ways.  He opened the door for adoption and we walked boldly through to adopt Jacob!  We can’t imagine our lives without him now.  He’s been a wonderful addition to our family.

Then he opened the door once more… we are boldly walking His path again to bring home Landon and Evelyn.  We both feel in our hearts that these two children will complete our family!

I asked Joe the other day… Would you have ever thought that we would be here where we are 13 years ago?  He replied with a firm “NO, but we have a great family and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world”.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to my Best Friend, my Husband, my Partner, my Soul Mate, my Biggest Supporter, and the MOST AMAZING FATHER EVER!!!  I love you!!!!!
