We have a NEW SON!!!

Well it’s not official yet, because we haven’t had court yet, however we got to meet our little Jacob today.  We went to the orphanage.  There is another couple with us, The Jennings, and they were meeting their little girl at the same time.  So we get to the orphanage and we are set in a play room.  We were there what seemed like forever.  While we sat there, there were little ones that were walked in and out from room to room, but none were Jacob.  Then Yulia came in and got Jason and Debbie.  We continued to sit.  During this time there were three sets of parents that brought in food and toys.  I wasn’t sure what was going on, then realized when the staff brought in their children that they were a bit further in the process than we were and were visiting their kids.  There was a couple from Israel, a couple from Italy and a Jewish couple and I am not sure where they were from.  It was interesting to watch them interact.

FINALLY, Yulia came and got us and we were whisked away to the office of the director.  We sat down with her, Yulia, and the Juvenile Services Inspector.  The director asked our names, ages, occupations, and then asked a bunch of questions about why adoption, if we had good family support, services available to us, about our kids including who was taking care of them while we were here.  We answered every one and while she seemed to be a stern woman who didn’t smile a lot, we did manage to get a couple smiles out of her by the end of the discussion.  She asked if we had any questions, and we asked a couple that she could not answer, but that were better questions for his caretakers.   Then she asked if we wanted to meet him!  Ummmm….YEAH!!!!

So then we went upstairs to a sort of therapy room, walked in and there he was.  He is so tiny… probably the size of a 8 month old.  Our facilitator talked for quite a bit while the caretaker held Jacob!  We oohed and ahhed over him for a bit then she handed him to me.  It was so wonderful!  He was a bit smaller than I expected for being almost 2 years old.  He doesn’t sit up by himself yet and his muscle tone in his trunk and legs is pretty low, but we will work on that when we bring him home!  We were taken with him at first glance.  Here are some pictures of our first day with him.   These were taken after we got down to the play room with him!

We are having problems with our internet as well right now, so until we have that figured out, we might not be online quite as much as we anticipated but we will work on it and get on as soon as we can!!  For now we are visiting him twice a day and today we took baby food for him to eat and he polished off a jar of baby food in no time.  We need to get his strength up for meeting his brother and sisters!!  LOL  He is much like a baby and will fit into our family just fine.  We are hoping to know today when we have court!  We are praying for next week, Thursday if we are luck and we can start our 10 day wait then!  We “might” be home sooner than we expected as everything is moving along pretty quickly!

Today we took Jacob outside for a walk and he just loved it!  I don’t know that he has been outside much during his life, so he was soaking up the sun!

Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes!
